My line dancing journey began in October 2021, following the unexpected loss of my father. In an effort to find solace, my mother invited me to a line dance class that she discovered online, and I immediately fell in love with it. Over the next year, I immersed myself in dance, and my passion grew to the point where I felt inspired to teach. With the guidance of local instructor Jackie Phillips, I learned the ropes of leading classes and building genuine connections with my students.
In May of 2023, I took the leap and launched my first line dance class at White Rock Civic Club in Winston Salem. Just before my class started, I choreographed a dance to the song Honky Tonk Highway by Luke Combs. To my surprise, the dance quickly gained immense popularity, leading to my nomination for the prestigious Crystal Boot Award (think ''The Oscar's'' for line dancing) and recognition as Absolute Beginner Dance of the Year in Texas.
Since that exciting moment, I have choreographed many more dances, achieving three number one's worldwide and receiving two nominations for The Line Dance Hall of Fame. Collaborating with talented choreographers like Mark Paulino and Cathy Garland, I continue to share my passion for dance, creating joy and connections with my students every day.
